Job Description

Our ability to identify great potential investment opportunities starts with our business development team. As such, we are seeking a Business Development Associate to support our deal sourcing strategy. In a highly competitive investment landscape, this role is critical in fundamentally helping Resurgens identify as many relevant investment opportunities as possible.

The Business Development Associate will be responsible for proactively identifying and engaging executives at software companies that are potential investment opportunities for Resurgens and dialoging with market intermediaries who are sources of investment opportunities. Working closely under the Head of Business Development, along with our operating team, the investment team, and peer associates, she/he will play an integral role in the sourcing success of the fund.

More specifically, she/he will be responsible for the following:

  • Maintain coverage of thousands of software companies that fit Resurgens’ profile
  • Utilize various technology-based tools to aggregate and analyze information
  • Define/map specific software segments through research and identify and qualify new potential investments within such segment
  • Prospect utilizing email, LinkedIn, phone, and other mediums to engage leaders of target companies
  • Assess investment opportunities at a rapid rate
  • Partner with investment/operations professionals & portfolio companies to identify companies of interest, especially surrounding add-on acquisitions for portfolio companies
  • Build relationship networks with industry participants to identify and gain access to decision makers and key industry contacts
  • Support the investment team during live due diligence through market research and interviews with industry experts

Ideal candidate profile:

  • The right candidate is ambitious, competitive, and organized.
  • A keen sense of ownership, drive, and scrappiness is a must; she/he will have a high degree of self-motivation, intellectual curiosity, process-orientation and be excited by a role that offers autonomy.
  • The ideal candidate will possess both the business background that enables them to drive engagement and interact at the executive level, as well as a technical appreciation that enables them to interact easily with software leaders.
  • Above-average verbal and written communication skills are a must.
  • She/he should have a demonstrated ability to think strategically about a business, product, and technology challenges, with the ability to build and convey compelling value propositions, and work cross-functionally to build consensus.

Requirements:

  • 1-3 years of relevant professional experience such as PE/VC, IB, consulting, software sales, recruiting, business development, etc.
  • An extremely ambitious & dynamic player who is competitive with a strong desire to achieve goals and able to work independently with limited direction
  • Motivated to use data and a metrics-driven approach to continuously improve processes/results
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with an ability to sell
  • Intellectually curious with high intellectual horsepower
  • Good command of Excel and PowerPoint; experience with CRM and email/marketing automation tools is a plus but not required
  • Outstanding academic and professional performance
  • BS/BA required
