Under the guidance of the Operations Manager, Americas, the Maritime Vetting Officer plays a pivotal role in providing comprehensive administrative support to the vetting team while addressing inquiries from esteemed clients, including Ship Managers and Charterers.
Key Responsibilities:
Serve as the primary contact for the vetting team, promptly managing daily correspondence via email and phone, with a keen eye for urgent matters.
Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of data entry into the proprietary platform, incorporating Port State Control and Incident data efficiently.
Assess the quality of Root Cause Analysis and Corrective Action plans for Port State Control deficiencies, liaising with Ship Managers as needed for effective resolution.
Review investigation reports for incidents and adverse events, collaborating with Ship Managers and clients to achieve satisfactory outcomes.
Support Vetting Superintendents as directed by the regional operations manager, contributing to seamless Vetting Operations.
Handle routine vetting inquiries from external stakeholders, prioritizing tasks to meet deadlines and uphold superior customer service standards.
Maintain precise records and execute tasks with utmost accuracy and diligence.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
Essential: Holds a Chief Mate or Second Engineer License with a minimum of 5 years' experience onboard International Trading vessels.
Strong background in safety, preferably with experience in Oil Major/Tanker operations.
Highly desirable: Training in Incident Investigation and Root Cause Analysis.
Experience in a Safety Officer role is advantageous.
Proficient in ship construction, machinery, operations, and Quality Management Systems.
Familiarity with ship surveys, certification processes, and relevant international regulations (IMO, ILO, ISM Code, STCW).
Thorough understanding of vessel operations and industry standards, including guidelines from OCIMF, ICS, and specific vessel types (Dry bulk, Chemical, Gas).
Excellent IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
