Job Description

Akkodis is seeking a Packaging Engineer – Greensboro, NC , for a 3- month Contract with a client in Greensboro, NC . Ideally looking for applicants with solid experience Packaging Engineer to oversee and support secondary packaging operations for liquid products.

Rate Range: $35.00 - $60.00 P/HR.The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.

Overview:

A leading global manufacturer in the consumer goods industry is seeking a Packaging Engineer to oversee and support secondary packaging operations for liquid products. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with cartoning, case packing, robotic systems, and vision inspection technologies in a high-speed production environment. This role offers an opportunity to work with cutting-edge automation and play a key role in optimising packaging line efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and support daily operations of secondary packaging for liquid filling lines.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot equipment such as:
  • Douglas IM/CM cartoners
  • Douglas CPone case packers
  • Insight tray erectors
  • Markem printers and coders
  • Cognex camera systems
  • Lantech stretch wrappers
  • Mettler Toledo case checkweighers
  • Support and optimise robotic systems, including tray loading cells and palletizers.
  • Coordinate with maintenance, engineering, and operations teams to minimize downtime and maximize throughput.
  • Develop and improve preventive maintenance procedures and documentation.
  • Ensure equipment and processes meet quality, safety, and regulatory standards.
  • Participate in projects focused on line upgrades, efficiency improvements, and automation integration.
  • Train operators and technicians on equipment operation and best practices.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Packaging Science, or a related field (preferred but not required with relevant experience).
  • 3+ years of experience in packaging engineering or operations within a CPG, food/beverage, or pharmaceutical environment.
  • Strong familiarity with high-speed packaging equipment and automation systems.
  • Hands-on experience with robotics, vision systems, and industrial printers is highly desirable.
  • Proficient in root cause analysis, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Preferred Experience:

  • Prior exposure to liquids filling and secondary packaging operations.
  • Experience working in GMP or highly regulated manufacturing environments.
  • Familiarity with OEE, Lean Manufacturing, or Six Sigma principles.
