At Melmark New England, we believe every child deserves access to a supportive and inclusive learning environment. We're seeking a compassionate, skilled Physical Therapist to join our student support services team and help students reach their full physical potential in an academic setting.

Job Summary:

The Physical Therapist will assess and provide therapeutic services to students with physical disabilities or motor challenges that impact their academic performance. The ideal candidate will work collaboratively with educators, families, and other specialists to promote student access, independence, and participation in the school environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate students’ motor skills and functional needs using standardized assessments and observations.
  • Develop and implement individualized therapy plans in accordance with IEP/504 goals.
  • Provide direct physical therapy services and monitor student progress.
  • Collaborate with teachers, occupational therapists, and other team members to support student access to learning and mobility.
  • Educate staff and caregivers on appropriate accommodations, positioning, and mobility strategies.
  • Recommend adaptive equipment and modifications to improve physical function in the school setting.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and comply with state, district, and federal guidelines.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapy program.
  • Current licensure as a Physical Therapist in Massachusetts.
  • Pediatric and/or school-based experience preferred.
  • Ability to work with students ages 3–21 with diverse physical and developmental needs.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with IEP development and participation.
  • CPR/First Aid certification.
  • Familiarity with assistive technology and adaptive equipment.
