QC Analytical Lab Associate - Microbiology

Position Type: Contract

Position Location: Allentown, PA

Position Pay: $24 an hour

Position Shift: Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm

Must Have: Bachelors degree in biology or microbiology

Key Responsibilities:

• Is responsible for fulling the lab’s requirements for analytical and biological testing.
• The position is responsible for performing Sterility testing utilizing the direct inoculation method.
• The candidate must be able to aseptically gown into an ISO 5 clean room.
• Gowning includes a hood, jump suit, boots face mask and gloves.
• Good aseptic technique is required for the transfer of the biological indicator into the test media.
• Bacterial endotoxin testing, utilizing a Kinetic Chromogenic method.
• Samples will be prepped in a laminar flow hood. Prepping includes disassembling the samples and placing in depyrogenated glassware for testing. The sample will be filled with a diluent and incubated. The diluent is tested utilizing a 96 well plate.
• Growth promotion and pH performed on in house and purchased media.
• Making TSB media for use in Sterility testing utilizing an autoclave to sterilize the media. The sterilization of tools and equipment utilizing an autoclave.
• Perform environmental monitoring in production areas. Aseptically gown into the production area.
• Test for air particulates, air microbial, and surface samples.
• Reading of environmental plates after incubation. Accurately documenting all testing and reads.
• Good documentation practices are a required. An attention to detail is needed.
• Deprogenation of glassware and tools used for bacterial endotoxin testing.
• Glass washing and sterilization of tools and glassware.
• Monthly and quarterly cleaning preventative maintenance of laboratory equipment.
• Other duties may include, trending of environmental data, collecting bioburden and cytotoxicity samples. Performing gram staining and subculturing of environmental organisms.

Qualifications:

• Education: A bachelors degree in biology or microbiology
• Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and proficiency in laboratory techniques and instrumentation.
• Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Organization: Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
