Scope of Work

The selected consultant will:

• Install, configure, and maintain Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) servers across all environments.
• Perform system upgrades, patching, and security hardening.
• Monitor and optimize system performance and uptime.
• Automate tasks using Ansible, Bash, or Python.
• Manage Red Hat Satellite, Identity Management (IdM), and related ecosystem tools.
• Work with security teams to ensure compliance and protection against vulnerabilities.
• Maintain storage, backup, and disaster recovery systems.
• Support application teams with best practices for Linux deployments.
• Document system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting methods.
• Provide on-call support and participate in incident resolution.
• Set up NFS (Network File Server) and mount points.
• Configure cron jobs for both system and application-level tasks.

Preferred Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience as a Red Hat system administrator.
• 10+ years administering Unix (AIX) IBM pSeries systems.
• 15+ years of overall experience in the Information Technology (IT) field.

Technical Experience

• Administering:
• Red Hat Linux in complex network environments
• Unix (AIX) on IBM pSeries systems
• Applications including:
• Oracle WebLogic, Oracle DB
• Progress 4GL/OpenEdge
• Apache Web Servers
• vSphere-hosted RHEL Servers
• Rubrik, Oracle backup systems
• PeopleSoft, Mobius, Elastic Search, Oracle OBI
• CVS (Concurrent Version System)
• Performance tuning, load balancing, disaster recovery
• 24/7 system availability support
• Application development and Red Hat support
• Electronic imaging support

Soft Skills

• Team collaboration and leadership
• Clear and effective communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders
• User support and helpdesk interaction
• Backup/recovery and networking methodologies
• Troubleshooting across OS, database, and application layers

Knowledge Areas

• Advanced Red Hat Linux administration, configuration, and tuning

Education

• Bachelor’s or postgraduate degree in engineering, computer science, or a related field (as defined by AOC).
• Degrees not considered related: B.S. in Agricultural and Resource Economics, M.B.A.

Active Certifications

• Red Hat Certified Systems Administrator (RHCSA) or Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE)
• Must be issued by Red Hat.
• Can be current or non-current, but must include a valid certification ID.
