Job Description

The Senior Vice President of Marketing joins our client at a pivotal time of transformation and opportunity. Marketing is no longer a support function at the company — it is now a strategic pillar critical to achieving their ambitious goals for growth, product penetration, and geographic expansion. This role exists to lead the evolution of marketing from a historically brand-focused, siloed discipline to a high-performing, integrated engine that delivers measurable business outcomes.

Under the leadership of Chief Marketing Officer, the company’s marketing organization recently underwent a significant restructuring. Previously structured as flat and functionally siloed, the team lacked the agility, strategic alignment, and cross-functional collaboration needed to meet their growth needs. That legacy structure contributed to a culture where team members felt disempowered, unsure of how to take initiative, and limited in their ability to drive work forward without top-down instruction. The SVP of Marketing is being hired to help shift that culture — to build a cohesive, confident, and accountable team with clearly defined roles, expectations, and shared purpose.

This leader will inherit a talented group of approximately 15 marketing professionals across project management, digital marketing, analytics, product development, creative production, and member communications. Many team members are still adapting to the new structure and are 100% remote, which calls for a leader who excels in virtual team management, communication, and empowerment.

Beyond team leadership, the SVP will be tasked with driving the transformation of the company’s marketing strategy — helping shift the focus from emotional branding alone to a more results-oriented, retail-style approach. The growth goals include expanding its customer base, deepening existing member relationships through cross-sell and product engagement, and entering new regional markets through physical branches and digital acquisition campaigns. This role must guide the marketing team in designing and executing campaigns that generate measurable lift in these areas.

Importantly, the company is embracing a “digital-first” mindset and exploring greater self-service enablement for its customers. The SVP will need to balance strong foundational marketing skills across traditional and digital channels while pushing innovation through marketing automation, segmentation, and KPI-driven insights. The organization is also beginning to explore smarter vendor partnerships — especially in areas like media buying and card marketing — and this leader will help define what should be handled in-house versus externally, bringing in expertise where appropriate.

Finally, the SVP of Marketing will play an executive-facing role, collaborating with the CMO, peer leaders, and the board to shape marketing strategy that aligns with broader enterprise goals. This person must be a strategic thought partner and skilled communicator who brings clarity, vision, and accountability to their next chapter of growth.

Required Experience

  • Minimum 10 years of progressive leadership in retail-oriented marketing roles, preferably in financial services, fintech, or high-regulation industries.
  • Proven track record of leading large, cross-functional marketing teams and driving organizational change.
  • Strong experience in digital and traditional marketing, campaign development, brand strategy, and data-driven decision-making.

Core Competencies

  • Strategic mindset with the ability to lead through ambiguity and complexity.
  • High emotional intelligence and people-first leadership style.
  • Comfort leading remote teams and managing performance across distance.
  • Skilled in establishing KPIs and turning insights into action.
  • Capable of driving both top-line growth and cross-functional influence.

Salary Range: $178,500 - $205,000 plus bonus
