Position Summary:

The qualified candidate will demonstrate a general working knowledge of live broadcast and data center environments. Responsibilities include maintaining the integrity of active cabling systems and supporting cabling installation projects as assigned by the Senior Supervisor. The ideal candidate should have experience with the installation and termination of copper cabling (coax, network, multi-conductor), with fiber optics experience considered a plus. This role also includes performing mechanical configurations on equipment racks, installing broadcast equipment, and collaborating in a team-oriented environment. 

Responsibilities:





  • Work on projects as assigned by the Senior Supervisor 






    • Collaborate closely with the Lead and Senior Technician for direction and project updates 






      • Maintain a clean and safe working environment 






        • Follow all departmental installation standards, safety policies, and procedures 






          • Lead by example and uphold company culture and policies 






            • Understand and interpret VidCad drawings (signal flow diagrams), rack elevations, and cable wire lists 






              • Assist peers in acquiring new skills as appropriate 






                • Perform rack setup and mechanical tasks associated with project builds 






                  • Install broadcast-related equipment 






                    • Perform cable cutting, termination, labeling, dressing, and runs (coax, multi-conductor, and network cables) 






                      • Utilize departmental test gear (e.g., Fluke DSX5000, Paladin 1570, Cable IQ) at a basic level 






                        • Assist in testing and troubleshooting for project completion 






                          • Perform other duties as assigned 





                            Basic Requirements: 





                            • Strong listening and organizational skills 






                              • Effective verbal and written communication skills 






                                • Team-oriented attitude 






                                  • Moderate problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities 






                                    • Basic proficiency with Google Sheets and Google Docs 






                                      • Solid understanding of basic mathematics (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, and geometry) 






                                        • Ability to read and comprehend installation documentation 






                                          • Adaptability to change and the ability to perform under pressure 






                                            • Operational knowledge of hand and power tools, cable strippers, crimpers, etc. 





                                              Qualifications:





                                              • 1–5 years of experience in broadcast, data center, or telecommunication installations 






                                                • High school diploma or GED strongly preferred 






                                                  • Relevant industry certifications are a plus (e.g., FOI, FOA – CFOT / CPCT, low voltage, BICSI, SCTE) 






                                                    • CPR/AED certification is a plus 





                                                      Working Conditions:





                                                      • Primarily indoor work in climate-controlled environments; outdoor work may be required depending on client requests 






                                                        • Equipment room noise levels vary depending on nearby operational equipment 






                                                          • Work conditions may include offices, ladders, elevated platforms, or tight spaces (e.g., beneath subfloors) 






                                                            • Physical demands include sitting, walking, climbing, standing, reaching, using hands, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, talking, hearing, and near/far vision 






                                                              • May be required to lift up to 50 lbs 






                                                                • May work in hot or cold environments depending on project needs 






                                                                  • Occasional overnight work may be required based on project timelines 






                                                                    • Typical workweek is 40 hours; overtime may be necessary based on operational demands
