Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled Electrical, or General Construction Superintendent to oversee and manage vertical construction projects from inception to completion located in Iron Mountain, MI.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in general, or electrical contracting and expertise in hospital construction projects. The Superintendent will have a proven track record of overseeing large and medium-scale MEP construction projects, ensuring safety, quality, and timely completion in a healthcare environment. As a Superintendent, you will manage on-site activities, coordinate subcontractors, and ensure the hospital construction project meets all regulatory, quality, and safety standards.
Position Responsibilities:
● Oversee day-to-day operations of the construction site, ensuring the project progresses on schedule and within budget.
● Supervise and coordinate all on-site construction workers, subcontractors, and vendors, ensuring efficient work and high-quality standards.
● Maintain a safe work environment by enforcing strict adherence to safety protocols and OSHA regulations, minimizing accidents, and managing site safety meetings.
● Ensure that all work is performed according to the highest standards, specifications, and healthcare industry requirements.
● Develop and manage project schedules, ensuring all tasks are completed on time and any delays are addressed quickly.
● Ensure that the project complies with all local building codes, hospital regulations, and environmental laws, including all hospital-specific certifications and health regulations.
● Serve as the primary point of contact between project stakeholders, including architects, engineers, contractors, and hospital administration, providing regular updates and resolving issues as they arise.
● Address construction issues, delays, or conflicts on the site, quickly identifying solutions to keep the project on track.
● Ensure that all necessary documentation is completed, including daily reports, inspections, change orders, and project logs.
Position Qualifications:
● Minimum of 7+ years of experience as an Electrical or General Superintendent, with at least 4 years in hospital or healthcare facility construction preferred.
● Strong background in general contracting and familiarity with hospital-specific construction challenges and requirements.
● Proven experience as a Construction Superintendent or in a similar role within the construction industry.
● Strong knowledge of construction management principles, along with Mechanical Electrical and Plumbing subcontractor management, practices, and techniques.
● Proficiency in construction management software such as Procore, Primavera, Bluebeam, or similar tools.
● Experience with budgeting and construction estimating is essential.
● Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
● Strong leadership qualities with effective communication skills to manage teams effectively.
● Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics accurately.
● A proactive approach to problem-solving with strong decision-making capabilities.
