Title: Director Fleet Equipment & Maintenance
Location: Atlanta, GA - onsite 5 days per week
Compensation is dependent upon experience and will be discussed during the consideration process
Overview: Director, Fleet Equipment & Maintenance develops and implements fleet equipment, maintenance, and compliance strategies, processes, and procedures across the organization resulting in the best-in-class safe and service focused fleet operations.
Responsibilities:
- Safety first mindset always; Demonstrate commitment to communicating, improving, and adhering to safety policies in all work environments and areas. Ensure compliance with all local, state, federal regulations, company safety standard policies, and all equipment is properly maintained in safe operating conditions.
- Develop, manage, and maintain long term fleet plans, including equipment specifications for over the road truck fleet equipment that meets the needs of all companies for acquisition and strategies for optimal timeline to replace or dispose of equipment, managing the sale or disposal of surplus or obsolete equipment.
- Manage and direct fleet compliance and maintenance standards for over the road trucks and equipment, including staff supervision, training, and performance evaluation.
- Own vendor relationships and service contracts to ensure cost-effective repairs, maintenance, repairs, and replacement parts. Approve all vendors. Negotiate with vendors and manage the procurement process for new vehicles and equipment. Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement efficiency-driven initiatives.
- Develop, manage, monitor the fleet preventative maintenance program and budget, ensuring cost effective operations
- Provide data and recommendations for the formulation of the vehicle maintenance operation and capital improvement budgets.
- Manages storage Pigs, setup, safety checklist, customer return checklist, rental agreement, maintenance, and DOT inspections
- Manage IFTA, IRP, UCR, and other programs related to the registration of the company’s tractors and trailers.
- Track and monitor fleet performance metrics, such as fuel consumption, maintenance costs, and vehicle utilization.
- Prepare and present reports on fleet operations, performance, and budget.
- Conduct and direct a variety of special studies, product evaluations, and failure, cost/benefit, repair/replace, and similar analysis.
- Proactively collaborate and communicate in a cross-functional environment across all Quikrete operations to drive continuous improvement of the internal truck fleet equipment, maintenance, safety and compliance.
- Performs other responsibilities as assigned.
Ability, Skills & Knowledge:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Transportation, Logistics, or related field.
- 10 + years of experience in fleet management, maintenance, safety procedures and operations with a strong understanding of budgeting, cost control, and financial management.
- Ability to lead and motivate a team of compliance, mechanics and other fleet personnel.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to analyze data, identify trends and areas for improvement.
- Safety first mindset: organized self-starter with a positive can-do attitude and a sense of urgency to meet customer commitments.
- Communication: Proficient verbal and written communication. Information must be tactful, respectful, clear, precise, and accurate. Expectation is for information to flow upward and downward throughout the organization. Build rapport with team members, internal and external customers.
- System Skills: Proficient in SAP, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint
- Must display good employability skills (attendance, job performance, attitude, willingness to work, etc.).
- Ability to pass pre-employment screening which includes physical, background check, and ten (10) panel drug screen.
- Ability to travel up to 50%
