Job Summary

The founding board of Your Helping Hands plays a critical role in shaping the future of our nonprofit organization. As a member of the board, you will help establish the mission, vision, and strategic direction of YHH, which is dedicated to supporting caregivers of terminally ill individuals through a comprehensive network of resources. We are focused on building a team to connect caregivers and their families with our local community. This is an exciting opportunity to build an organization from the ground up and make a lasting impact on the lives of caregivers and patients.

Job Responsibilities

  • Governance and Oversight: Provide guidance and oversight to ensure that YHH fulfills its mission and complies with all legal and ethical standards.
  • Strategic Planning: Collaborate with other board members to develop and refine the organization’s strategic goals, policies, and programs.
  • Financial Stewardship: Assist with fundraising efforts, including donor engagement and grant writing, to secure financial resources for the organization’s sustainability.
  • Community Engagement: Serve as an ambassador for YHH, building connections with community leaders, healthcare professionals, and other stakeholders.
  • Program Development: Provide input on the design and implementation of programs that align with YHH’s three pillars: caregiver support, full-cycle financial planning, and resource navigation.
  • Attendance and Participation: Attend quarterly board meetings, participate in committee work, and stay informed about the organization’s activities.

Qualifications

Passion for YHH’s mission and a commitment to improving the lives of caregivers and terminally ill patients.

Experience in at least one of the following areas is desirable but not required:

  • Nonprofit management or governance
  • Fundraising and donor relations
  • Healthcare or social services
  • Financial planning or accounting
  • Legal expertise, particularly nonprofit law
  • Marketing, public relations, or community outreach
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team setting.
  • Willingness to leverage personal and professional networks to advance YHH’s mission.
