Position: Private Equity Analyst, Business Development

 

Position Type: Full Time

 

Location: Santa Monica, CA

 

Summary:

 

Ocean Avenue Capital Partners is seeking a Business Development Analyst to join its growing team in Santa Monica, CA. The Business Development Analyst will have the opportunity to take on a significant amount of responsibility as a cross-functional resource within Ocean Avenue's growing team. With Ocean Avenue's leading position as an equity capital partner of choice for independent sponsors, the Business Development team is responsible for expanding and engaging with the Firm's sponsor and third-party partner networks, ensuring that OACP is positioned to see and invest in the best independent sponsor-led opportunities across the lower middle market.

As the primary owner of the Firms' internal and external data sources, the Business Development Analyst will support the programmatic identification, engagement and review of new sponsor partners, and develop an expansive knowledge of businesses, business models, and investment structures through the intake of hundreds of deal opportunities, becoming the go-to internal resource for insights into the Firm's deal and sponsor trends. 

 

Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:

 

  • Assisting with the proactive identification, engagement and assessment of potential sponsor partners;

 

  • Managing the Firm’s deal and sponsor database (Salesforce), including the logging all new deal opportunities, key financial metrics, and the preparation of the Firm's weekly pipeline review materials;

 

  • Supporting the ongoing generation of deal benchmarks and sponsor analyses, presenting findings and recommendations to the senior team;

 

  • Working closely with the senior team members and external parties to coordinate city trips and conference schedules;

 

  • Performing other duties as assigned

 

Requirements:

 

  • 0-1 years of work experience

 

  • Bachelor’s degree with a demonstrated interest in private equity investing

 

  • Personable, with exceptional analytical and written communications skills; paired with a high attention to detail and organizational rigor

 

  • Dedicated worth ethic and a strong desire to learn about private equity and the independent sponsor model

 

  • Initiative, professional ambition and the ability to build trust and support with senior members of the Ocean Avenue team

 

  • Distinguished academic record and activities outside of the classroom

 

  • Foundational understanding of Excel, PowerPoint, and finance principles
