Job Description

Key responsibilities of a Tier 1 Telecommunication Technician:

Basic installations: Installing new phone lines, data cables, and basic network components at customer premises.

Troubleshooting common issues: Identifying and resolving simple problems like faulty wiring, incorrect settings, or disconnected devices.

Equipment testing: Performing basic tests on lines and equipment to verify functionality.

Documentation: Maintaining accurate records of installations, repairs, and customer interactions.

Following safety procedures: Adhering to safety guidelines when working on electrical and cabling systems.

  • Required skills and knowledge: Basic understanding of telecommunication principles, including cable types, network topologies, and signal transmission
  • Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams and blueprints
  • Proficiency with basic hand tools and test equipment used in telecommunications installations
  • Excellent customer service skills and ability to clearly explain technical concepts to non-technical users
  • Ability to work independently and follow established procedures

Important points to note:

Supervision: Tier 1 technicians typically work under close supervision from more experienced technicians or supervisors.

Escalation: When encountering complex issues beyond their skill level, they are expected to escalate the problem to a higher tier technician.
