Job Description

The Warehousing Controller will be responsible for providing financial insights, forecasting, and analysis to support strategic decision-making within the warehousing and logistics function. This role ensures that financial objectives are aligned with operational goals and helps optimize the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of warehousing operations. Key Responsibilities: Financial Planning and Analysis: Develop, analyze, and manage budgets for warehousing operations, including labor, overhead, and capital expenditures. Conduct variance analysis between actual and budgeted financial performance, providing actionable recommendations. Prepare long-term financial forecasts based on operational trends and business strategies. Cost Optimization: Analyze warehousing costs, including storage, labor, transportation, and inventory carrying costs. Partner with operations teams to identify cost-saving opportunities and process improvements. Support strategic initiatives to reduce expenses while maintaining or improving service levels. Performance Monitoring: Track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) such as mix adjusted variable cost, E&O and LCM inventory adjustments, returns logistics, damage claims, scrap, space utilization, and labor productivity. Provide financial support for continuous improvement initiatives in warehousing and logistics. Assess the financial impact of operational decisions and recommend changes to maximize profitability. Strategic Decision Support: Collaborate with supply chain and operations teams to evaluate potential warehouse expansions, consolidations, or relocations. Perform financial modeling for capital investment projects, such as automation or new technology implementations. Support the evaluation of third-party warehousing contracts and vendor negotiations. Data Analysis and Reporting: Develop and maintain financial models and dashboards to provide real-time visibility into warehousing financial performance. Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports to senior leadership. Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures. Qualifications: Proficiency in financial modeling, forecasting, and budgeting tools. Deep understanding of warehousing and logistics operations. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Proactive, self-motivated, and detail-oriented. Strong business acumen with the ability to align financial strategies with operational goals. Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and the ability to work with large datasets. Advanced Excel skills; experience with ERP systems (SAP) and BI tools (Power BI) is a plus. Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams. Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on actionable recommendations. Minimum Qualifications: ~ Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field. ~5+ years of experience in financial analysis, preferably within warehousing, logistics, or supply chain functions.
